Evanston hangs on and claims third place with a 10-8 win over Naperville North!

Evanston effectively running the clock down to 1:00 left. North will use their final timeout. They will need a quick goal after the timeout to get within one, then will need a stop to have one more chance to win.

If Evanston makes a stop here, Brett Hatcher's squad will earn a third place finish.

North 6 Evanston 6 (Halftime)

Currently, my mobile network is very very slow, which is the reason for the delayed updates. Probably a result of being online since Thursday, which Sprint is probably getting mad about. At this time, the teams are in their respective huddles with three minutes left until we restart the action.

North 6 Evanston 6 (HALF)

KIM BUCK drives down the middle and picks up a loose ball to give North a 5-4 lead. Amy Reams makes a nice steal from McCann but her shot dies on the goalline. Ditton adds a goal from set, her fifth, as Evanston ties the game. In the final minute, Kim Buck hits a backhand and Noth now leads 6-6 with :19 left in the half. MAGGIE HATCHER TIES THE GAME with a halfcourt shot at the buzzer!

I'm thinking that at halftime I am going illMOBILE and updating the second half from the bleachers in between the North and Evanston cheering section. What do you think?

Meier over the goal for NN...Ditton with her fourth goal makes it 4-3 Evanston.

Evanston 3 Naperville North 3 (End of 1st)

Ditton starts the scoring for Evanston. Brandy Savino from outside of seven. Kim Buck puts the Huskies ahead 2-1. Ditton puts in her second goal from two meters and ties it at 2-2.

At the 3:30 mark, Ditton completed a hat trick to make the score 3-2. Under two minutes now, and Zimmer with a fine save on Fieldson, but Fieldson comes down and scores on her next try wit :29 left in Q1...McCann makes a late save and the Huskies end the period without a shot.

Latin 13 New Trier 7 (4th)

We start the final quarter as Wickes bats in a two meter shot against Nyhan, Latin has been executing to near perfection thus far, looks like one of heir best games this season...Fyfe makes a save on Soper...NT attacks again, and its Gerrit Adams with a sweep shot to the corner to make it 10-6...if New Trier has a chance they need to make their move now with 5:00 left...Sweeney with a steal, Soper draws an ejection, NT misses twice, still have the ball, Soper is saved again and Latin takes a timeout.

Stephen Wickes adds a powerplay goal to put Latin up 11-6. Adams responds with a goal from two meters and it is 11-7, Peterson scores at two meters for Latin and they have a big 12-7 lead as time is running out. Brett DuBois scores a powerplay goal in the final minute as Latin finishes in third place with a 13-7 win.

Latin 9 New Trier 5 (End of 3rd)

This game has been officiated...not much else I can comment on at this point, read into it what you want, and its been like that for both teams...

Start of the quarter, NT on powerplay but Nowlin turns it over and Latin calls a timeout with 5:00 to go. Himmel with the only goal of the period, as NT calls a timeout to set up for a powerplay chance...Soper shoots over the net...Leech makes a save on Wickes...Soper denied at two meters, Adams denied from seven, two good saves by Fyfe...under two minutes, Leech makes a save, Latin retains...NT on the move and needing a goal, Soper with a questionable shot as he is struggling from the field...1:00 remains, Peterson gets in and scores with :49 in the third and Latin is starting to run away with it, leading 8-4...finally Soper gets inside water and scores with :29 left to make it 8-5...big play coming up to end the quarter, Fyfe to Jenkins to Himmel, Peterson scores with :01 left on a lob and Latin makes a big push to lead 9-5.

Latin is playing inspired polo in Tom Nystrom's final game. The winner claims the third place trophy.

Hilbrant scores for NT on a powerplay, but Wickes adds a four meter penalty goal and it is 4-2...Soper feeds Adams at two meters for a goal to the right corner and we have a 4-3 game with 3:30 in the second quarter...Adams draws an ejection and Sweeney gets the goal from the right wing to tie it at 4-4...Stephen Wickes scores on a powerplay rebound to make it 5-4 in the final minute of the half...Soper denied from two meters...Latin can hold for the last shot, Latin gets the powerplay...Wickes scores and its now 6-4 at halftime after Soper hits the post at the buzzer.

Fenwick 11 Naperville North 3 (FINAL)

Buck makes a steal and goes the distance to score her first goal and make it 7-2 on the opening play...Trisha Meier scores on an assist from Buck to make it 7-3...McCann makes a save but McCarthy pushes the rebound in to make it 8-3...Fenwick had just reinserted their starters, now North puts in their backups as the game is just four minutes from the end...Rixter adds a goal for Fenwick...and another as it is now 9-3...subs are now in for Fenwick as wekk as they have clinched a victory...Jenna Byrne adds a late goal for the Friars...

Nice gesture by both coaches as the players in this game right now work very hard in practice and are a major part of their teams' success. They now get the chance to shine on this main stage!

McCann denies Rixter, Foley denies Savino, then Rixter finally gets Fenwick a lead with a shot from two meters. I have just been challenged to drink 5 cokes in the first half of the Fenwick-North game. I WILL NOT BACK DOWN FROM SUCH A CHALLENGE!

Also, Fenwick and North have gotten underway and are scoreless in the first period. Fenwick had two shots go over the goal, Bonk hits the post on a powerplay as we are to the 4:00 mark.

McAuley 13 Evanston 9 (FINAL)

Perez adds a goal in the final minute, but Hatcher answers with a shot from beyond half court. Only :52 ticks left on the clock...Wood scores again on a rebound goal in the final :30...and McAuley runs out the clock.

McAuley advances to the girls' championship.

In the game, Cabrera was great for McAuley as was Hatcher and Zimmer for Evanston. Credit Delaney for coming in to play hurt. But an AMAZING game from McAuley freshman Maggie Wood, who scored four goals and was all over the place for the Macs in the win.

Wood scores for McAuley as they go up 9-7, but Ditton comes right back with a goal to make it 9-8 with 5:00 to play.

Ditton somehow comes up with the ball between the defender and the goalie and nails a backhand to make it 8-7 with :26 in the third, Zimmer a steal and the period ends.

Wood slips a shot past Zimmer to make it 7-5...Hatcher turns on Perez and Cabrera and throws in her second goal to make it 7-6...Evanston's defense staying strong and McAuley runs out the shot clock...Down to 2:45 and Evanston holds tough again...Wood hits the post, McAuley gets it back, and Cabrera scores from two meters

Delaney a save, Evanston getting early chances...once again the next goal is huge for either team...Cabrera goes over the net...Ditton lays out and hits the corner to make it 6-5 and Evanston is right back in it.

Zimmer denies Cabrera...Evanston hanging around, Hatcher a field block on Perez...Ditton comes close but hits the post, Coghlan a steal...Grossinger takes it back, Amy Reams hits the post with 1:00 left, and Evanston holds tough, big plays down the stretch, next goal could be huge...McAuley on the attack, Ginger to Wood to Perez in front and scores with L26 left. Could be a huge swing right there. Evanston wil get a last chance, Ditton draws the ejection on Perez and Reams gets the ball in from the left wing and its 6-4...:05 left and Cabrera hits the crossbar.

Both teams stepped up in the final minute. McAuley went up three and looked solid heading to halftime, but Ditton and Reams slice it to a two goal lead and Evanston has the momentum going to the break.

IMPORTANT: McAuley's starting goalie is not in the lineup. She chipped her tooth in warmups and has been getting tended to by the trainer. She has now reentered the lineup with McAuley down 3-1.
